His treatment is considered to be one of the major elements of spa health care. The core element of the treatment is the natural brine which comes from the underground deposits that are located in Kołobrzeg. In natural conditions, the brine of 6-7% concentration is found in natural conditions and is rich in many compounds which are valuable for the treatment; these elements include: natrium, chlorine, magnesium, calcium, bromine, iodine. 3-4% water solution of brine, of temp 38-400C is used for the treatment. The main effects of brine application in treatments come down to the processes which take place on the surface skin layers, where the feeling of pain is decreased. Once the brine compounds enter the tissues, they start to initiate various effects in the activity of organs and the nerve system. After the bath, the skin temperature rises by ca. 0.70C, and it usually remains for up to three hours, instigating the dilation of the blood vessels of the skin and the ones which are found deeper.
